AA Ringette incorporates elite training and competition, a supportive team environment and the encouragement of a healthy and active lifestyle, exclusively to female athletes.

AA is offered at the U14, U16 and U19 age levels. Currently in Manitoba we have four identified catchment areas that host one or more AA teams. Bonivital Angels (which include Bonivital and Transcona Ringette Associations), Wild (SWRA), Eastman Flames (Eastman Ringette Association), and Magic (St. James, North Winnipeg, River East, Macdonald and Interlake).

Our AA teams compete in a league which begins in October. In February teams will participate in the Ringette Manitoba Provincial Championships. The first and second place teams in the U14 age level will advance to the Western Canadian Ringette Championship, while the first and second place teams in the U16 and U19 age levels advance to the Canadian Ringette Championship.

Schedule, Scores and Standings

2019-2020 AA Tryouts

All players wishing to play AA must register online directly through Ringette Manitoba’s website – online registration system, not with their local association. Manual registrations will not be accepted.

Registrations open March 1, 2019 and close on March 22, 2019 (11:59pm) for a fee of $85.00 plus GST. *Late registrations received from march 23 to 29 will be assessed $100.00 plus GST.

Absolutely NO registrations will be accepted after March 29th

The AA tryouts for the 2019 – 2020 season will be held from April 16th- 29th at Southdale Arena. ANY ATHLETE WISHING TO PLAY IN THE AA PROGRAM MUST REGISTER AND ATTEND TRYOUTS.

If a player is unable to attend tryouts they will be excused for the following reasons only:
-family death or health emergency
-school sanctioned event (not including the high school ringette tournament)
-sickness or injury, accompanied by a doctor’s note
-religious beliefs

All notifications of absenteeism must be submitted in writing to the tryout coordinator, Jeff Tutkaluk (aatryouts@ringettemanitoba.ca) as soon as practicable after the athlete is aware of the absence. The AA committee will determine a fair evaluation for these athletes. However, if an athlete does not attend tryouts for the reasons noted above their score could prevent their placement on a AA team.

U14 AA – (Born 06 / 07) – We anticipate having 4 teams at the U14 age level
U16 AA – (Born 04 / 05) –  The intent of the AA committee is to form 4 teams at this age group if registration numbers are sufficient and skills are considered at a AA level. The final determination of the number of U16 AA teams will not be made until tryout registration numbers are submitted and skills can be evaluated.
U19 AA – (Born 01 / 02 / 03) – The intent of the AA committee is to form three (3) teams at the U19 age level. The final determination of the U19 team formation will not be made until tryout registration numbers are submitted and skills can be evaluated.

The 2019/20 AA tryouts will be coordinated by the AA Committee, in a centralized manner to ensure consistent evaluation of all athletes.

After tryouts are complete, teams formed, all athletes who were not selected will be required to return to their home association. If a player is selected to play on a team outside of their catchment area and the player declines to play, they will not be selected to another AA team and will return to their home association. It is the intent of the AA committee to allow all AA evaluated players to have the opportunity to be selected for a AA team.

Time commitments for AA vary by team and between age levels. A good guideline is:

  • Approximately 2-3 weekly ringette sessions (ice and dryland) 60-90 minutes each.
  • Approximately 18 games, but may vary depending on the amount of teams in the loop.
  • Practices and League game days will vary depending on ice availability.
  • Teams will participate in tournaments, typically 3-4 in a season depending on the age group and competitive level of the team; 1 or 2 of those tournaments may include an out of province trip.
