On June 14th, 2017, the ringette world lost a player to brain cancer, but not before the 11-year-old started a fund to help others with the disease.

After diagnosis in December 2016, Keira Bond began Keira’s Krusade to help others with cancer, with all funds collected going towards combatting pediatric brain cancer.  As such, the Winnipeg Ringette League will donate half of our 50/50 lottery from the 9th Annual All-Star Game to Keira’s Krusade.

Prema Manitoba will be donating pink tire valve stem caps to Keira’s Krusade to be given away for a donation at the All-Star Game.

Boston Pizza and the Winnipeg Ringette League acknowledge the player, friend, daughter and sister by having Keira’s Krusade logo on every all-star jersey and by not having a number 12 dressed in the All-Star Game today.

There is nothing Keira could not do. Keira attended St. Charles Catholic School where she excelled and was a talented piano player, violinist, and vocalist. She loved baseball and ringette and #12 was well-known for her spirit, tenacity, and drive on the ice. Keira had such a fun-loving spirit and people were naturally drawn to her. Keira was compassionate beyond measure. Her love for people – all people – is what inspired her, and us, daily.
