CRC’s are coming back to Winnipeg!

It’s been 13 years since the Canadian Ringette Championships have been held in Winnipeg (2005).   The 2018 ‘Save On Foods’ Canadian National Ringette Championships will be held in Winnipeg from April 8-14th.  It’s a very exciting year for ringette; 40 years ago the very first national ringette championship was hosted in Winnipeg.

The 2018 national championships are committed to hosting a spectacular event but also to:

Honoring…..our past
Celebrating….the present
Building…for the future

We are excited to have some players from the 1st national championship involved in this year’s event; These athletes paved the way for our sport to develop and will have some valuable advice to share with everyone in the ringette community. It’s such a pleasure to feature these extraordinary ‘ring girls’ that are still involved in the sport today, providing support and leadership as officials, coaches, board members, and volunteers.  They are great roles models for our sport and we can see the generational impact ringette has on families as ringette truly is a “Sport for Life”.

The Opening ceremonies with take place on Sunday, April 8 at 7:00 at the Manitoba Concert Hall, we are anticipating over 2000 athletes, coaches, and fans to join us.  Game will be played at the BellMTS Iceplex and Seven Oaks Sportsplex Monday through Friday.  We are pleased to announce that all games will be live-streamed. Of note, the medal games will be played at Bell MTS Ice Place on Saturday, April 14.  The Closing Banquet will be held at the RBC Convention Centre.

We want to give a warm Friendly Manitoba welcome to all those attending and will have information on all Winnipeg has to offer local attractions, restaurants, and events, proving that we are indeed not a city that is,  “cold and dark with no WIFI”.

We are looking for youth ambassadors!  Each U16 and U19 team will be linked with one of Manitoba’s future stars – a youth ambassador (U12 or U14) who will support the team becoming their #1 fan.  More information on the youth ambassadors and how to register will be sent out to all U12 and U14 ringette teams in early February.

It takes a village to run such an amazing event!  You can sign up for volunteer opportunities here: crc2018.ca and look for the VOLUNTEER tab.

Sponsorship opportunities are also an option.  The event reach is approximately 3,000 Manitoba families, 30,000 future female leaders in Canada, 100,000 participants, and 65,000 parents.  Everyone can support the nationals – for only  $100 you can become a “Name of the Game” sponsor and you will be announced as the game sponsor at one of the games.

Join us for the largest national championship of the year of “the fastest game on ice” .  For the schedule of all games go to crc2018.ca.  Game schedule is expected to be released in February.
