RINGETTE PROUD ! WINNIPEG PROUD !
The 2018 Canadian Ringette Championships was honoured to be presented the BRING IT HOME AWARD (Sports & Special Events) as part of the Winnipeg Tourism Awards of Distinction on May 28, 2019 at Tourism Winnipeg’s Gala Luncheon.
The award is presented to an individual, organization or business that has increased visitation to Winnipeg by bring a sporting or special event to Winnipeg. Other finalists were 2018 Canadian Senior Ball Hockey Championships and the 2018 World Masters Ultimate Club Championship.
Last years award recipient in this category was the 2017 Canada Summer Games Host Committee.
We will display our Award in the trophy case at the Seven Oaks Arena, alongside the beautiful framed CRC medals that Ringette Canada presented us with at the Closing Ceremonies.
This awards belongs to all of the volunteers that made the 2018 CRC so successful.
To all the passionate, ringette crazed volunteers that gave so much of their time and effort – took time off work – that signed up their families to volunteer – that put in long hours – and to those who felt like they slept at the arena for 5 days. All in the one common effort to make the 2018 CRC memorable for the athletes and teams.
Many thanks does not seem to be enough. So I want to leave you with a sample of the thanks we received from those that attended the CRC. Be proud of your contribution to our sport, our community and our youth.
“This is the twelfth Nationals we have had the privilege of attending and they were exceptional from the opening ceremonies to the closing ceremonies and every day in between.Your committee’s attention to detail and clear understanding of what a sporting event of this magnitude should be was clear in every aspect.”
“This experience had a significant and incredible impact upon Taylor (one of our ambassadors) and the direction that she will head in life. She wants to be a leader. She wants to work hard and then even harder than that. She wants to excel at ringette and she wants to teach others. She wants to continue those friendships and connections with the Laurentides team and to make new ones here in Winnipeg via ringette. (these initiatives) and your hard work and volunteers make such a difference in young people’s lives.”
Ringette Proud. The power of sport.
